When cakes go wrong

Today I baked a shit cake. 

It was supposed to be a raspberry, rhubarb and custard cake.  I thought I'd be clever and have a thin layer of custard on top of the fresh raspberries and roasted rhubarb.  This was probably the reason why it failed.

The sides cooked nicely, and the crumble topping worked a treat, but in the middle the cake mixture hadn't set and was still raw and gooey.

As you can see, it still didn't stop me having some, but it wouldn't appeal to other people, they'd probably think I'd spewed into a sponge flan case.
